Prof. Dr Herbert (Bob) Pinedo, M.D., Ph.D.

Bob Pinedo is professor-emeritus of Medical Oncology at the Vrije University Medical Center (VUmc) and past director of the Cancer Center at VUmc. He is past-president of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). Since 2008 he is Chairman of the Board of the Caribbean Prevention Center, Curaçao. In 2014 he discovered that all cancer DNA can be detected in urine. Based on this discovery he established the urine test for early cancer detection, after which he founded Qurin Diagnostics. He served on the SAB’s of numerous companies. Bob Pinedo has authored more than 750 peer-reviewed international full publications. He has received many international awards including the prestigious Josef Steiner award, Spinoza Award, and the ASCO David Karnofsky award. He is member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Science and Arts (KNAW). In 2006 the KNAW Bob Pinedo Cancer Care Award was established in his honor. Pinedo has been decorated by H.M. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands with the prestigious Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion and Commander in the Order of Orange-Nassau.

Prof. Dr. David Reinhoudt

Professor David N. Reinhoudt studied Chemical Technology at the Delft University of Technology and graduated (suma cum laude) in chemistry in 1969 with Professor H.C. Beijerman. He is part-time professor Applied Chemistry at the Radboud University Nijmegen and as part-time professor Inorganic Materials Science at the University of Twente. Professor Reinhoudt is the founder and first director of the MESA+ Research Institute for Nanotechnology (1998-2007). In the past 30 years he has actively pursued the application of supramolecular chemistry. Application of supramolecular chemistry e.g. in the field of electronic or optical sensor systems, catalysis, biochips, molecular materials and in “lab-on-a-chip” technology. He is the author of more than 1000 scientific publications, patents, review articles, and books. He has been honored with the Izatt-Christensen award (1995), the Simon Stevin Mastership (1998). He is an honorary doctor of the Universities of Parma (2007) and Pécs (2010), was awarded the medal of merit of the University of Twente (2007). He is Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion (2002). From 2002-2011 he was the chairman of the Board of NanoNed, the Dutch Network for Nanotechnology. He is a member of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences, Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Fellow of the Institute of Physics. He was involved in many international scientific programs among which the prestigious International Program of the JST with Prof. Shinkai. (Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan).

Piet has extensive experience in change management processes in an international business environment (e.g. M&A, corporate restructuring, functional and operational excellence programs, creating smart working office environments), handling complex, international IP disputes (including mediations and litigations in Europe and the US) and coaching of young and senior professionals. Schalkwijk holds several advisory and supervisory positions such as Chairman of the supervisory board of Akzo Nobel The Netherlands, and chairman of the advisory board of Nouryon The Netherlands.

Theo Lenssen is a master in mechanical engineering and a seasoned entrepreneur in the field of medical engineering and medical product development. He was responsible for product development at Organon Teknika and is now manager and owner of Leonardo bv, consulting in design management, De kat Tooling and Moulding, mould making and moulding and of Tecflow International, turbine flow sensors.
